We’re often asked to reupholster tub chairs, here are two examples which illustrate how a new fabric choice can update a tired interior. In this first example we gave a striking upgrade to tub chairs destined for a four star hotel in Windsor. We reupholstered in Lorca, Aradonis Weaves (Calina) a very smart textured semi plain fabric. A transformation from the classic deep pile red velvet that might now be considered a rather dated look.
In this second example we enhanced the design by reupholstering in faux leather with antique look brass stud work, perfect for the golf club bar where these chairs are returning to.
Our skilled re-upholsterers gave this quality hotel chair a soft and luxurious makeover in Today Interiors – Textures Grain Zinc, a fabric which reflects light and creates a sense of glamour! We added buttoned detail to the chair back for an updated look.
We can often enhance chair design or structure in order to compliment new furniture or modernise the look and feel. Examples chair modifications include deep buttoning, stud work, covering previously exposed wood arms and replacing feet.
All our hotel furniture is customised to match customer’s specifications from choosing wood frame colour finish, upholstery trim (studs, piping etc.,) and hospitality fabrics. Here’s an example of a set of bar stools we manufactured for a well known London hotel bar.
We set to work on the solid beech frame to give it an opulent deep Wenge finish with a stunning depth of shine, we webbed the seat and back forming a strong base before adding a generous foam seat. A combination of contrasting fabric gives the finished stool a sophisticated urban feel which compliments the lounge and tub chairs we also re-upholstered for this hotel client. For the seat and back we used Panaz Aston faux leather in Pewter and for the seats we used Sunbury Designs Belfast Aquaclean in Frenzy – a linen look high performing contract fabric with a clean, crisp texture and colour.
Our interior designer created this striking combination of colourful Osbourne & Little zigzag patterned velvet and Linwood Italian velvet to transform this rather tired looking hotel lounge chair. We reupholstered the chair in our Reading workshop and our French polisher got to work restoring the worn arms, frame and legs to their former glory with a beautiful depth of colour and shine.
The Tulip range combines elegance, style and comfort and is shown here in electric blue velvet – a bold and confident colour choice. All seating may be upholstered to suit your requirements, we work with leading hospitality fabric manufacturers such as Panaz, Sunbury Designs and Skopos.
Working closely with our clients to gain a complete understanding of the design brief, our talented interior designer brings together a complimentary collection of seating, lighting, paint colour palettes and window dressings to match both the clients aesthetic objectives and budget.
The example below shows a mood board recently created for a hotel bar where we combined luxurious velvet fabrics in mustard and warm grey with ‘statement’ light fittings and opulent wood panelling. We manufacture and upholster all seating within our Berkshire workshop using only the best quality hospitality fabrics.
We partner with leading vendors of lighting and other fixtures and fittings to provide a complete service.
We recently re-upholstered this deep buttoned hotel armchair in dual fabrics. Using a combination of fabrics can transform chairs into real statement pieces and provide additional opportunities to coordinate with other furniture. Why not combine shades of the same fabric or combine plain fabrics with patterns? The possibilities are endless.
This chair was re-upholstered using Sunbury – Autograph Velvet Calvados (back) and Sekers Kiboko Garnet (front).
We’ve put together a collection of contemporary ‘statement’ lounge chairs. All our chairs are made to order and customised with your choice of hospitality fabrics, leg wood finish and options such as deep buttoning and the addition of decorative trims or stud work to add definition and aesthetic appeal.
Re-upholstery has always been a popular choice for the hotel and leisure industry who invest in quality furniture which structurally may outperform the fabric and foam. Our highly skilled craftsmen reupholster in combination with any French Polishing required, essentially allowing us to create new furniture from old. In recent projects we have observed the following hospitality fabric trends:
Deep buttoning
Deep buttoning creates a luxurious and timeless sense of style and adds to the personality and presence of a piece of furniture. This type of upholstery technique if often seen on Chesterfields. We reupholstered the armchair below in Nina Campbell Deep Green Velvet.
Stud work
Stud work provides definition and with a vast array of studs to choose from there are numerous options for both modern and traditional chairs. We reupholstered these tub chairs in faux leather and used antique brass studs to complete the renovation.
Faux Leathers
Faux leathers make an inexpensive replacement to real leather and are popular with our hotel clients due to their high wear rates, cleanability and durability. The following beautifully textured ranges from Panaz are popular for hotel and leisure applications.
Panaz Brookland – a distinguished texture in a classic colour palette. This practical yet luxurious upholstery conveys an elegant and refined look. Waterproof, antimicrobial, stain resistant and able to withstand a high level of abrasion. Perfect for hospitality use.
Panaz Aston – Enduring in its popularity, smart brights enhance an inspiring colour palette. A design classic to define or accent any interior.
Natural fabrics – Hemp
Hemp has a unique texture created from a heady mix of natures cleverest renewables. The Hemp Plus range from Camira is a wool and hemp blend of naturally inspired shades with a soft handle, inherent flame retardancy and an exceptional eco story.
